This talk will touch on basic eye anatomy and how to identify signs of eye disease. The most common issues affecting sled dogs will be highlighted including: corneal ulcers, pannus, glaucoma, and retinal disease. The talk will wrap up with the special aspects of canine vision and how that applies to working dogs. Dr. Snyder is Alaska’s only board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, owner of Polar Eyes Veterinary Ophthalmology. He travels around the state to local veterinary clinics providing specialized eye care to animals, and is the current president of the Alaska Veterinary Medical Association. He also runs his own small kennel of Siberian Huskies.
